Cascada™ AN-Water System: Compliance With European Pharmacopoeia Purified Water Specification
Cascada™ AN-Water System: Compliance With European Pharmacopoeia Purified Water Specification

Introduction
The Cascada AN-water System is fed with partially purified water. The unit produces extremely high ultrapure water for critical laboratory applications suitable for all analytical and pharmaceutical applications.

Its product water comfortably exceeds the EP (5th Edition 2005) purified water specification.

Method
A Cascada AN-water System was fed with reverse osmosis (RO) permeate water with a conductivity of 28 µS/cm and a TOC of 60 ppb. The unit was operated intermittently and product water dispensed to simulate typical use patterns.

Conductivity and TOC were logged online using a Thornton 200CR meter and a Sievers 820 TOC analyzer respectively. Samples were taken for other analysis at various times.

Total viable counts were measured after membrane filtration and incubation at 27 °C for 5 days on R2A agar. Nitrate was determined by ion chromatography using a Dionex DX500 with AS12 column and heavy metals were determined by the EP method 2.4.8.
