This candle pre-coat filter consists of a cylindro-conical vessel with a separating plate that divides the clean filtrate (dished lid) and unfiltered fluid (cylindro-conical vessel component). In the upper, dished end, the clean filtrate is discharged. The conical lower part of the vessel is designed to collect and discharge the spent kieselguhr slurry during cleaning allowing the distribution of the suspension during pre-coating and filtration. The unfiltered product with the added kieselguhr enters the pointed end of the vessel cone. The rod-shaped filter cartridges are mounted into the intermediate plate in a suspended manner. The staggered arrangement in a hexagonal configuration yields maximum use of the cake space at the end of the filtration run.
Advantages:
Only one pre-coat
Ideal flow dynamics over the entire filter area
Optimal infeed distributor allows uniform distribution of the kieselguhr
Candle with bayonet lock
Double O-ring sealing system on the candles
In-situ cleaning (no need to remove candles)
Optional wet or dry discharge
Reduced water consumption during backflushing
Eco-control vessel cleaning system
Kieselguhr holding capacity approximately 6 to 7 kg of kieselguhr/m² filter area
Specific solids capacity up to 9 kg/m²
The newly developed candle head increases overall economy and operational reliability. A new bayonet lock (patent pending) enables better handling and reduced labor costs.
The filter candle is securely fixed within seconds by insertion and a 90º rotation in the bayonet lock. The sealing system has proved to be highly successful in sterile operation. An added benefit is that the filter candle with this blocking system can be mounted and dismounted by a single operator, a contributing factor in reduced labor costs.
