Conjugate Pads
For Immobilizing Detector Reagents in Diagnostic Assays
One of the most critical components of lateral flow diagnostics is the conjugate release material. In diagnostic assays, conjugate pads are used to immobilize and release the colloidal or latex detector reagent once the sample has passed over the pad, uniformly delivering the sample and detector reagent to the reaction membrane.
Critical to these assays is the ability of the material to uniformly wet to accept the conjugate into the matrix of the membrane. In addition, the conjugate pad should not damage, inactivate, or hinder the release of the conjugate once dried. The intrinsically hydrophilic nature of our conjugate pad materials ensures that the pads wet quickly and uniformly resulting in the efficient capture and release of the conjugate reagent. The hydrophilic properties of these materials also facilitate the consistent development of a strong, concise capture line ensuring optimal performance and increased sensitivity in diagnostic assays.
Pall’s family of conjugate release pads are available in a variety of base materials such as polyester and glass fiber to meet the physical property requirements (thickness, tensile strength, etc.) of in vitro diagnostic test manufacturing. Our conjugate pads exhibit low, non-specific binding which minimizes concerns over the conjugate pad material binding the analyte of interest or detection reagent. The low-binding nature ensures robust signal intensity and assay sensitivity time after time. Additionally, the physical characteristics of the materials do not require the use of surfactants or wetting agents that may interfere with or reduce the sensitivity of highly sensitive assays.
