Quality Monitoring
![]() Quality Monitoring is a critical and essential process during product manufacturing. It is perfomed in order to manage economics and to assure the user that high quality sampling data is obtained on time, as reliably and reproducibly as possible. Pall offers a comprehensive range of solutions for Quality Monitoring to assure simplicity, speed and reliability of data. Please see the sections below to learn about our capabilities - from rapid microbiology to microbiological quality control and analytical sample preparation. Rapid MicrobiologyMany industries operate lean manufacturing and quality monitoring techniques, in line with principles such as Quality by Design and the FDA's Process Analytical Technology directive. These directives often create a demand for faster microbiological data than traditional methods are able to provide. Pall leads the way in the provision of simple, economical, effective solutions for rapid alternative microbiological methods.Pall's innovative GeneDisc® Rapid Microbiology System minimizes operator input, simplifies high-quality, reliable data generation and speeds time to result in hours, rather than days. The technology can quantify microorganisms and also allow their identification. This powerful platform provides a flexible solution for a broad range of microbiological testing requirements. Some applications require microbial contamination detection based on a short culture-step, followed by presence/absence |

Of course, flexibility is important as some applications may be well suited to using traditional microbiological methods.
Microbiological Quality Control
Many industries perform testing for microbial contamination based on traditional microbiological methods. Many of the most widespread methods are based on filtration of a sample through a microbially-retentive membrane, followed by culturing of this membrane on agar, or a pad impregnated with liquid medium, or in broth. There are several factors that influence the choice of filtration device used for microbiological testing - for example, samples may contain components potentially inhibitory to growth.
Choice of filtration membrane and device is therefore of critical importance in ensuring accurate results. Pall supplies a comprehensive range of products which help to simplify and streamline traditional microbiological quality control testing.

Analytical Sample Preparation
Removal of undesired contaminants is critical to many analytical procedures. For example, the life of High Performance Liquid Chromatography columns can be extended using appropriate filtration. Pall provides a range of solutions, including products certified for low extractables for use in HPLC and ion chromatography. Pall offers a range of both manual and automated high-throughput solutions for critical analytical sample preparation requirements. For more information, please see Analytical Sample Preparation.
