Pall filtration products play an important role in this technology by providing retention of microorganisms, retention of particles, and air elimination in the anti-coagulant solutions used in apheresis procedures. Commercially prepared IV bags may be contaminated with particulate from plastic and rubber, and present a risk to normally healthy blood donors. In-line filtration prevents the inadvertent administration of particles into the donor by retaining these contaminants.
