Overview

 

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for maintaining a world-class Export control and Compliance program throughout Pall Corporation’s operations in UK and mainland Europe, possibly developing into the Middle East and Africa region. Its focus is to ensure that Pall Corporation’s business is transacted in compliance with all applicable trade compliance regulations and the policies and procedures issued by Pall Corporation Global Trade Compliance.

 

This position requires an energetic, proactive person with a strong background in customs and Export compliance who is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the complete Export License process. It requires drive to process improvements in key risk areas, and to provide oversight and technical guidance to business personnel to ensure proper implementation of Global Trade Compliance processes.  The position will participate in developing Pall Global Trade Compliance policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with applicable international regulations for the import and Export of materials, information, and technology. The candidate will also take a proactive role in seeking appropriate cost-savings strategies (e.g., utilizing a free-trade zone, coordinating classification rulings, automation of routine trade compliance administrative activities). The position will interface with Global Trade Compliance, freight forwarders, corporate management, internal/external legal counsel, customers, suppliers, and customs agencies in the region.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist the business in developing and implementing uniform standards and procedures for the region based on Pall Corporation’s Global Trade Compliance Policies and Procedures.
  • Serve as technical resource to Pall Corporation’s Businesses: Interpret relevant customs and Export control regulations and provide guidance to the business accordingly.
  • Assist the Trade Compliance Manager to drive Global Trade Compliance strategic plans and key initiatives for the region.
  • Develop and deliver relevant training, through a variety of formats.
  • Serve as Pall Corporation’s primary escalation point for Export control compliance issues within the region and key liaison with relevant government authorities.
  • Assist with the investigation of suspected violations of Export control compliance laws or related company policies and procedures, preparation of disclosures when necessary, and development of remedial measures.
  • Support implementations of global import/Export IT and SAP systems as required.
  • Occasional travel will be required.

 

 

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Demonstrable direct import/Export compliance experience in a major corporation.
  • Subject-matter expertise in all relevant areas of trade compliance locally.
  • Strong background in Export licensing essential.
  • Experience in US (ITAR and EAR) and EU Export control regulations.
  • Experience in drafting formal correspondence to be submitted to government agencies.
  • Experience in dealing with local government officials.
  • Proven ability to identify areas where process improvement is required, and assisting the business to develop and implement those process improvements.
  • Experience in developing and delivering trade compliance training.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, communication skills, and cross-cultural awareness.
  • Detail oriented, possessing good analytical skills; able to anticipate problems and diffuse situations.
  • Self-motivated and able to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • A good team player.
  • Languages in addition to English would be a plus.
