Kaitlynn Bayne is an Application Scientist within the Scientific and Laboratory Services (SLS) team at Pall Biotech. She has experience with cell culture, bioreactors, analytics, and assay development. Kaitlynn obtained her Master’s Degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Michigan and has over five years of laboratory experience including positions at the University of Michigan and Pall. When she isn’t working, Kaitlynn enjoys attending trivia night, playing dodgeball and being outdoors.
Senior Bioprocess Application Specialist, Scientific and Laboratory Services
Odette joined Pall in 2016 and is currently a Senior Bioprocess Application Specialist within Pall Biotech’s Sales and Laboratory Services organization. She performs hands on training at customer sites as well as scientific coaching. Her role is to support customers to help them optimize, scale-up and transfer processes to produce stem cells, viral vectors and virus vaccines for preclinical and clinical grade manufacturing. She has several years of experience within the vaccine industry including positions in both R&D and manufacturing groups at GSK Vaccines. Odette obtained her Master’s Degree in Biotechnology Engineering at Bordeaux Engineering Institute of Biotechnology in France. She spends most of her free time practicing a variety of different sports, including badminton, rock climbing and skiing.
Global Product Manager
Silke Bergheim-Pietza is a global product manager for Pall Biotech in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She joined Pall in 2005, bringing a wealth of experience in the areas of sales, product management and marketing. In her current role, Silke globally manages the biopharmaceutical products for pre-filtration and depth filtration including cartridges, sheets, modules and capsules. Prior to joining Pall, Silke worked as a global application manager with the industrial gas company Messer Griesheim Group. While her career began in applications engineering, she has extensive cross-functional expertise ranging from applications engineering to strategic account and marketing management. Silke holds a degree in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany. She enjoys horseback riding and walking with her dog.
Director, Integrated Process Solutions
Dr Marc Bisschops is the Director of Integrated Process Solutions at Pall Biotech. Marc leads the development of the regulatory support initiative for continuous bioprocessing. He is responsible for field support activities related to continuous bioprocessing, cell culture and single-use technologies. Marc is one of the leading scientists in this area. He has completed over 250 continuous chromatography and continuous downstream processing projects, authored 15+ continuous publications, and invented 8 continuous bioprocessing patents. Marc won the Machevo Award (NLD) for Innovative Separation Equipment developed during PhD research, and is a guest lecturer at various post-graduate courses in Europe. Marc holds a PhD in Biochemical Engineering, Delft University of Technology (NLD). Prior to joining Pall, Marc was CSO at Tarpon Biosystems, the company that developed the continuous chromatography technology. Marc held several scientific and management positions in process development departments in Batavia Biosciences, Xendo. Mark enjoys photography and visiting the theatre with his four daughters, including two identical twins.
Principal Bioreactor Applications Scientist, Scientific Laboratory Services (SLS)
Highly skilled in the field of cell culture applications and with 10+ years of experience, Emmanuelle previously held positions as Bioprocess Specialist at Pall, and Biotech Process Sciences Upstream Process development engineer at Merck Serono. She received her Biotechnology Engineer diploma from the former Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs de Luminy (now Polytech Marseille). Emmanuelle is a keen horse rider and enjoys competing in horse jumping competitions.
Group Leader, Upstream Technologies Group Leader for upstream technologies for Pall Biotech Product management,
Joe has worked for Pall since 2014, and has over 15 years’ industry experience in the upstream space. Prior to his tenure at Pall, Joe held various cross functional roles in marketing, sales, technical applications, as well as a cell culture associate in a commercial manufacturing cGMP environment. He has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Rhode Island, Masters of Business administration from the University of New Haven, and Master of Science in Biotechnology from The Johns Hopkins University. Outside of work, Joe enjoys outdoor activities such as golfing and hiking, and walking his French bulldogs Gunther and Potato (named by his 3 children!)
Principal Scientist, Scientific and Laboratory Services
Keen joined Pall in 2016 and is Principal Scientist in the Cell Culture PDS laboratory within Pall Biotech. He leads the PDS bioanalytical team for gene therapy viral vector analytics to assist analytics tech transfer, develop analytical SOP, processing upstream and downstream processes samples for titers and impurities, ensuring data robustness, and finishing analytical request in a timely manner. In addition to his leader role in bioanalytics, he also leads projects for gene therapy upstream production in iCELLis and Allegro STR bioreactors. Keen has a Ph.D. in Molecular Toxicology from Penn State University College of Medicine. Outside of work Keen enjoys hiking, fishing, and travel with his family.
Technical Specialist II, Scientific and Laboratory Services
Roberto is a Technical Specialist, part of the Purification Team at Pall Biotech. Originally from Milan, Roberto joined Pall in 2013, he studied Chemistry at P. Carcano University and is currently studying Economy at Insubria University. He works on developing new process or supporting existing ones specifically on Chromatography, Depth filtration and Tangential Flow filtration, and previously was involved in the Pall Validation Laboratories for two years. Roberto previously supported the Quality Assurance of a pharmaceutical company for two years during college study. In his spare time, he enjoys music events, skiing and playing basketball.
Senior Bioprocess Application Scientist
Dr Marie-Laure Collignon is a Senior Bioprocess Application Scientist for the cell culture technology team at Pall Biotech. For the last 3 years, she has been dedicated to training bioreactor customers, and providing advice on the transfer of their process into Pall bioreactor technology and process optimization. Marie-Laure holds a Master of Chemical Engineering from Liège University. Before joining Pall Biotech, she completed a PhD and a Post Doctorate at Liège University and University of Lorraine. She has 10 years experience studying the impacts of hydrodynamics inside stirred bioreactors into mammalian and stems cell cultures, which has allowed her to gain a broad range of bioreactor expertise. When she is not working, Marie-Laure enjoys spending time with her family and teaching scuba diving to new trainees in lakes in Belgium and the Mediterranean Sea.
Senior R&D Manager
Mike Collins has worked at Pall for over 30 years, starting as an apprentice. In this time, he has filled a number of positions in laboratory, engineering and applications-based roles in industries spanning hydraulics, aerospace, water, and food and beverage before moving to Pall Biotech, within which he has worked for more than 15 years. Mike relocated to the US 10 years ago and is currently a Senior R&D Manager for Biotech Process R&D group, managing the US team focused on continuous bioprocessing and gene therapy. Mike is an avid sports fan (watching mainly these days) balancing this with a lively young family.

Stijn is a Senior Scientist with the with the Pall Biotech SLS Aseptic group, where he fills the role of the European SME for virus filtration and the global SME for air filtration. He graduated from HoGhent university with a BSc in Medical Laboratory Technologies after which he spent seven years as a Lead Tech for a CRO company before joining Pall in 2008. Stijn started working at Pall in an inside sales position before making the switch to SLS in 2012. Outside of work he enjoys like coaching football and reading.

Udara Dharmasiri is a Senior Scientist for the Process Development Services team at Pall Biotech. Udara has over 10 years of extensive experience in molecular biology and analytical chemistry assay development, filtration process development and virus purification for clinical applications. Udara has a Ph.D. in Bioanalytical Chemistry from Louisiana State University and postdoctoral training in Immunology from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Outside of work, Udara enjoys enjoys travel, and sports.
Director, Cell & Gene Therapy
Dr Clive Glover is the Director of Cell & Gene Therapy at Pall Biotech. Clive leads Pall’s cell and gene therapy business. He has over 15 years of experience in cell and gene therapy. His work has been published in numerous scientific journals, and he has presented at many conferences. Previously he was responsible for driving product development efforts around cell therapy at GE Healthcare and has also held positions in marketing and product management at STEMCELL Technologies. Clive holds a PhD in Genetics from the University of British Columbia. When not at work, Clive spends a lot of time singing in Welsh choruses and hiking the Welsh hills.
Senior Bioprocess Applications Specialist, Scientific Laboratory Services (SLS).
In this role, Sid acts as a technical consultant for biopharmaceutical manufacturing organizations aiming to scale up their production platforms to serve the Cell and Gene therapy industry. Sid has many years of experience with cell and gene therapy, including positions in Process Development and Product Lifecycle Management at Juno Therapeutics and the Lonza Group. He has co-authored several peer reviewed articles, multiple book chapters and holds one patent. Sid obtained his graduate and undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, respectively. In his free time, he enjoys funk and hip-hop music and spending time outdoors in the Pacific North-West.
Engineer II, R&D
Aude joined the Biotech Process R&D team of Pall Biotech in 2016. She is based in UK (Harbourgate, Portsmouth) and she specializes in sterilizing-grade filtration. During the last few years at Pall, she has gained experience in the filtration of various molecules and complex fluids including high concentration mAbs and liposomes. Aude graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) with a Master in Chemical Engineering. Outside work, she mainly enjoys dancing as well as travelling around the world.
Principal Engineer, R&D
Since his PhD in Biochemical Engineering, Nigel Jackson has over 10 years of experience in Biotech Process R&D within Pall Biotech. Nigel has authored multiple publications and conference presentations demonstrating a deep understanding of virus filtration and general bioprocessing. He has directed this knowledge into helping Pall develop robust and effective new virus filters and many other Pall Biotech products and applications. A Principal Engineer at Pall, Nigel has also recently taken on the role of Visiting Lecturer at University College, London. He is a keen footballer and plays weekly in a five-a-side team with colleagues and friends.
Global Product Manager, Pall Biotech
Claire Jarmey-Swan is responsible for the global product management of the sterile connector and disconnector product portfolio used in upstream, downstream and formulation and fill applications. She has over 20 years’ experience in the Life Sciences industry, holding positions of increasing responsibility in technical, marketing and product management.
Claire holds a MBA from Southampton Business School, University of Southampton and a MSc in Microbiology from the University of Natal, South Africa. She has the status of C. Biol, MRSB (Chartered Biologist, Member of the Royal Society of Biology). Claire enjoys sailing, new cuisines and exploring new countries.
Biotech Process Manager, R&D
Kyle joined Pall in 2013 as an R&D Scientist providing analytical support for cell culture projects and other various applications within Pall Biotech. He then moved on to supporting a range of projects within Pall’s filtration portfolio (virus/sterile/air) before moving into focused work on Pall’s modular products. Kyle is currently the Biotech Process R&D (BPRD) Manager for Pall’s modular, bioreactor and mixer portfolio. Kyle received his Master’s degree in Bioprocessing from University College London. Outside of work he enjoys playing football, going to the gym, watching new movies and spending time with his family.
Senior Scientist, R&D
Terése Joseph is a Senior Scientist in in the Westborough, MA, USA BPR&D group supporting upstream and downstream cell culture specializing in cell biology and analytics. Her work includes 30 years of research experience in Biopharma and Biotech specializing in Cell Therapy from development stage to clinical studies. Her strengths include three-dimensional cell culture constructs for graft studies, media formulation, cell engineering, assay design and validation. She enjoys the networking that results from cross-training and collaborations. Terése received undergraduate degrees in Cell Biology, studied biochemistry and molecular biology at the graduate level at Boston University before matriculating into a Doctorate in Natural Medicine specializing in Pharmacokinetic changes as a result of dysbiosis and effects on neurological signaling. When not at work, Terése enjoys yoga, craft beer, obstacle course runs, kayaking and hiking with her two teenage sons. She is enrolled in the Masters of Biotechnology Enterprise program at John’s Hopkins University.

Benedict provides analytics supports to various projects in the Research and Development by doing assay development and assay support. Prior to Pall, Benedict has over 10 years of laboratory experience and worked at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology and Ajou University in South Korea. He received his Master of Science in Pharmacology from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and his Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the University of Arizona. He has had several scientific papers published and presented at numerous international conferences in his career. When he is not at work, Benedict enjoys cooking new meals with new recipes, watching new movies and reading articles with data.

Denis completed his PhD in Biology and Biotechnology at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts and has been with Pall since 2017. Within Pall Biotech, Denis leads the scientific laboratory services team responsible for all field support activities related to continuous bioprocessing technologies and downstream automated solutions. Over the years, Denis held several scientific and management positions related to process development and early discovery research at contract research organizations as well as biopharma companies in the US. He has established a significant track record in completing projects related to drug discovery and continuous downstream processing. In addition, Denis is involved with the development of the regulatory support initiative for continuous bioprocessing within Pall Biotech. In his free time, Denis enjoys spending time with his family and teaching his two young daughters about nature and science.
Bioprocess Specialist, Scientific and Laboratory Services
Alexander is a bioprocess specialist as part of the Scientific and Laboratory Services (SLS) at Pall Biotech, with several years of experience in the industry. He works with clients (typically in process development) that have drugs in the pre-clinical and phase I stages. Focused on working mainly with downstream technologies, he supports studies/experiments within the fields of gene and cell therapy, monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, vaccines, and other molecules. Alexander received his Master’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Binghamton University, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rochester. When he is not working, Alexander enjoys playing soccer (and following other sports), exploring for new music, and traveling around the world.
Manager, Field Application Team
Andrew Laskowski is the manager of the regional Pall bioreactor field application team in the US and Western Hemisphere. He has been supporting Pall’s bioreactor and cell culture technology product portfolio in a scientific and technical capacity since 2013. Prior to Pall, Andrew worked in vaccine process development at Merck, antibody purification at Genentech, and drug product formulation at Pfizer. Andrew holds biomedical and chemical engineering degrees from the University of Michigan, and in his free time, is an avid University of Michigan college sports fan.
Pascal joined Pall in 2014 as a global product manager for the iCELLis® Bioreactors portfolio through the ATMI acquisition. In this role, he was responsible for the development and promotion of bioreactors used for viral vectors. Since March 2019, Pascal is now Field Marketing Manager, interacting with BeNeLux and Nordics sales hubs to promote the Pall Biotech portfolio. With over two decades’ experience working in cell culture, Pascal previously worked with Sartorius Stedim Biotech and Lonza as a global product manager for biotherapeutic media and buffers. Pascal has a degree in biochemistry from University de Liège. When he is not working, Pascal enjoys running and playing tennis, managing a tennis club and acting as secretary and competitions manager. Plus spending time with his five children.
Senior Manager, Cell Culture SUT – Process Development Lab
Dr Rachel Legmann is the senior lab manager leading Pall’s Westborough end-to-end process development services (PDS) and collaboration laboratory. She is responsible for scale-up, continuous bioprocessing and manufacturing support activities for gene therapy and biologic markets. Rachel has over 20 years of industrial experience focusing on combining biological and engineering aspects for maximizing process efficiencies, viral vectors and antibodies quality. Her work has been published in numerous scientific journals, and she has presented at many international conferences. Previously she was responsible for driving large scale manufacturing processes for multiple drug substances at Goodwin Biotechnology, a Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO), and leading the entire scale-up process development for new recombinant protein vaccines at Harvard Medical School. Rachel has held positions in new product development at Contract Research organization (CRO) SBH Sciences and at Seahorse Biosciences/Agilent. Rachel holds a PhD from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Rachel spends her free time hiking and biking.
Executive Director Business Development
Dr Peter Levison is responsible for developing strategic partnerships within the Biotech community through the management of a network of Global Thought Leaders and collaborating organisations. He joined Pall in July 2003 having previously worked for Whatman and has over 25 years’ experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, holding positions of increasing responsibility in research and development, technical management, and product management. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Manchester and an MBA from the Open University Business School, UK. He is a member of various professional bodies and academic and industry advisory groups. In his spare time Peter takes country walks throughout the South Downs and enjoys modern jive.
Manager, Cell Culture Applications, APAC
Andrew brings many years of experience to Pall Biotech and is responsible for managing a team of bioreactor application scientists within the APAC region to support customers and commercial colleagues in upstream gene therapy, cell therapy and biologics applications. Prior to this, he managed a team of R&D scientists to provide cell culture media and process development services for customers. Andrew holds a PhD and BSc (Hons) from Murdoch University, Perth Australia. His research includes the investigation of the physiological importance of the proteins of interest of infectious and cancer diseases, completed as part of his postdoctoral fellowship, PhD and Honors degrees where he supervised PhD, honors and undergraduate students. Andrew has developed a patent and his work is published in several journals. When not working, Andrew enjoys fishing and family time.

Heather Mallory is a Senior Scientist in the Process Development Services (PDS) group at Pall Biotech. Prior to working at Pall, she worked with monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins. She has several years of experience working with viral vectors for gene therapy including AAV, Adenovirus, Syndbis virus and Lentivirus. She studied Biochemistry at SUNY Albany and Boston College. When not at work, Heather spends a lot of time hiking mountains with her two children, running, and listening to NPR.
European Manager for Continuous Bioprocessing
Britta Manser is the European Manager for Continuous Bioprocessing of Pall Biotech’s Scientific Affairs and Laboratory Services group. Britta leads a team of field support scientists responsible for the development, implementation and integration of continuous processing technologies. In her position, she has authored several book chapters and publications, presented on technology and industry advancements at different conferences and has an active role in industry groups. Prior to joining Pall Biotech in 2016, Britta obtained a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from Zurich University of Applied Sciences. In her free time, she enjoys trekking and skiing with friends and family in the Swiss Alps.
Global Product Manager, Virus Filtration
Dr. Aernout Martens is Global Product Manager, Virus Filtration at Pall Biotech. He holds a Master degree in Bioprocess Engineering and a PhD in Physical Chemistry. After his research on extracellular matrix ligand interactions, he started working at Pall in 2011 as a biopurification specialist, after which he in 2014 specialized in virus filtration and in January 2016 became global product manager for the Pall virus filter portfolio: understanding the market needs and relaying them to the organization to create the products and tools that are really useful to pharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing. When not at work, he enjoys rock climbing, music and spending time with family.
Global Sr. Director, Regulatory and Validation Consultancy
Dr Morven McAlister is the Global Senior Director of the Regulatory and Validation Consultancy team at Pall Biotech. She joined Pall in 2001 and has held various technical leadership roles in microbial contamination control and has extensive experience with sterile and virus filtration applications, including test design, qualification, regulatory, and processspecific filter validation support. She is currently involved in applying Quality by Design (QbD) principles to new process applications, product, and method development, as well as supporting microbial risk mitigation practices for end-users. She received her PhD in Microbiology from the Queen's University of Belfast, and completed her postdoctoral research at the University of Arizona. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Albert Mirzoyan is the Business Manager for Pall’s Process Development Services (PDS), Xpansion, and XRS bioreactors; responsible for strategy, marketing, and product portfolio. He has over 9 years of experience in the life science industry with extended knowledge in cell culture media and bioprocessing technologies. Previously he held positions in both product management and commercial functions at Corning Life Sciences. Albert holds an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Mary Washington. Albert enjoys travel, sports, trying new cuisines and spending time with his family.
Vice President Marketing, Pall Biotech
Morgan Norris in the Vice President of Marketing for Pall Biotech. He is responsible for the strategy, outbound marketing, branding, and product portfolio for the business unit. Morgan is a respected leader in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing space with over 2 decades of experience in biotech and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Morgan’s experience spans originator companies, contract manufacturing and suppliers with roles in technical, strategy, product management, marketing and business leadership. When he is not working or travelling Morgan enjoys spending time on the water and at home with his young family.
Dr. Michelle Olson is a Senior Scientist in the Biotech Process Research and Development team at Pall Biotech. She recently joined Pall in March 2019 and has taken leads in various projects from iCELLis Quality to the Gene Therapy Production Platform where she is developing methods for AAV and Lentiviral production and quantification. Michelle received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University where she studied bioreactor optimization and polymicrobial biofilms of the gut microbiota. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys making fermented foods (sourdough bread!) and hiking.

Grishma Patel is a Senior Scientist for the Process Development Services (PDS) team at Pall Biotech. She has over 10 years experience leading projects while managing cost, schedule and process efficiency for quality biologics production. She has extensive knowledge and experience scaling up adherent cell culture processes using microcarrier technology for cell therapy and virus production industry. Grishma holds a Master of Science in Cell & Molecular Biology degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. When not at work, Grishma loves to spend time with her family, play board games and visit new places.
Bioreactor Applications Manager (EU), Scientific and Laboratory Services
Andreia is the manager of the Pall Bioreactor Application Scientist team in Europe. In her role she supports clients implementing Pall’s bioreactors for development and manufacturing of therapeutics focused on cell and gene, oncolytic, vaccine, monoclonal antibody therapies and others. Andreia hold a Master’s degree in Biotechnology Engineering from the Science and Technology Faculty of Algarve University, Portugal. She has over 10 years of experience in mammalian cell culture, bioprocess design and optimization, acquired on her previous positions at the Laboratory of Animal Cell Biotechnology and Laboratory of Experimental Medicine from the private research university in Brussels, ULB. In her free time, Andreia loves travelling, exploring new cultures and beautiful landscapes.
Global Product Manager, Single-Use Technologies
Christophe is the Global Product Manager for Single-Use Technologies at Pall Biotech. He is globally responsible for product portfolio management of the Allegro™ Single-Use Filling Needles and ARTeSYN♦ fluid control portfolio, as well as broader marketing support for formulation and filling activities. He holds a master’s degree in Bioprocess Engineering. Christophe joined Pall in 2012. During those years, he covered multiple roles including Technical Sales Engineer and Product Specialist, supporting extractables and particulates characterization initiatives. In his free time, he enjoys spending time playing sports and nature trekking with friends and family.

Amanda is Scientist I based in Westborough, MA, USA in Biotech Process R&D and supports upstream gene therapy projects. She specializes in cell culture and analytics, with an emphasis on viral methodology. She joined Pall in 2013 and has been involved in several projects spanning mAb optimization, microcarrier handling, and novel assay development. Prior to working at Pall, Amanda began her career at the New England Primate Research Center working on Simian Immunodeficiency Virus, then supported Wilms tumor research at the Mass General Cancer Center and continued with antibody development at ImmunoGen. Amanda enjoys spending time with her three children and watching animated films.

Todd has been with Pall since 2006. He has many years of research experience with expertise in mammalian cell culture, process development and analytical method development. He currently leads the Gene Therapy Upstream Cell Culture and Analytics Team in the Biotech Process R&D group. He holds a B.S. in Biochemistry and B.S. in Psychology from Michigan State University. When not at work, Todd enjoys gardening and spending time with his young children.

Dr Mark Schofield PhD, has a background in molecular biology, protein purification and continuous bioprocessing. For the last 3 years Mark has been a Senior R&D Manager at Pall, leading the work in the continuous bioprocessing laboratory in Westborough, MA. Mark has a strong publication background spanning 20 years. Mark has four year old twins that take up all of his free time!
Global Product Manager
Dave Sokolowski is a Global Product Manager in Westborough, MA, USA. He joined Pall in 2016, bringing both scientific and engineering experience in the areas of project management, R&D and marketing. In his current role, he manages the Acoustic Wave Separator technologies that Pall Biotech has licensed from FloDesign Sonics. Prior to joining Pall, he worked for four years as an R&D Engineer with FloDesign Sonics, developing many of the technological competencies required for Acoustic Bioprocessing. Dave holds degrees in both Microbiology and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In his spare time, Dave enjoys hiking, brewing beer and cider, and cooking various international cuisines using freshly grown ingredients from his garden.

Dr Benben Song is a Senior Manager in Scientific Laboratory Services at Pall Biotech. Benben leads the extractables and leachables validation studies on Pall products to ensure compliance with the latest regulations and evolving expectations for drug safety purpose. Prior to joining Pall, she managed government contracts on drug cardiotoxicity evaluation at the Stanford Research Institute. Benben holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University and has over 10 years of experience in biotech. She has published over 18 articles in scientific journals and has been invited to present her work at many conferences. When not at work, Benben likes to spend time reading, hiking, and participating in outdoor activities.
Senior Manager, Single-Use Technologies
Dave Splan is a Senior Manager of single-use technologies at Pall Biotech. He leads the Process Development Services (PDS) team in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which focuses on the development and scale-up of bioprocesses in various bioreactor platforms for use in vaccine and cell therapy applications. Dave earned his Master of Science in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of Michigan. He has over 18 years of experience in the cell culture field, holding various leadership roles over the course of his career at facilities such as the University of Michigan, RenaMed Biologics, SoloHill Engineering and now Pall Biotech. In his spare time, you’ll find Dave working on his Japanese Maple tree farm or at a local CrossFit gym.
Global Director, Process Development
Dr Mark Szczypka is the Global Director of Process Development Services (PDS) at Pall Biotech. Highly skilled in the field of cell culture applications, Mark previously held executive positions as President of SoloHill Engineering Inc., Director of Nephrology and Oncology at OncoImmune, and Senior R&D Director at RenaMed Biologics. In addition to his 20+ years of experience in cell culture, Mark has been published in numerous scientific journals. He received his PhD in Biological Chemistry from the University of Michigan and completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Washington.
Mark was awarded a Howard Hughes Research Scientist fellowship during his tenure at the University of Washington, and his work in gene therapy was published in the Journal Neuron and was highlighted on World News tonight. When he is not working, Mark enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in outdoor activities.
Scientist II, R&D
Ly Truong is a Scientist II in the BPR&D Upstream Cell Culture team at Pall Biotech, Westborough, MA, USA. Ly joined Pall in 2017 and has worked on various projects ranging from AWS perfusion to iCELLis bioreactor quality. Currently, she is working on qualifying the lentivirus Transduction Unit (TU) assay for functional lentivirus quantification. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Worcester State University. When not at work, Ly enjoys cooking, baking and taking her dogs on hikes.
Scientist II/Lab Manager, R&D
Steve joined Pall in 2009. Based at our Harbourgate facility in Portsmouth, he is currently Scientist II and manager of two laboratories. He works on a range of filtration projects incorporating liposome and emulsion production and analysis, making use of his expertise in nanoparticle production, particle sizing and characterization. He also performs filterability experiments using automated filter screening systems. Steve has a first-class BSc (Hons) degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Portsmouth. Outside of work, Steve enjoys motorcycling and owns a Harley Davidson.
Bioanalytical Scientist II, R&D
Deepika joined Pall in 2017 and works at our Westborough facility in MA, USA as a bioanalytical scientist supporting upstream and downstream process development activities. She is experienced in the characterization of therapeutic proteins and monoclonal antibodies, with over 10 years of industry experience in method development, validation and in-process control of proteins. Deepika has a Masters in Analytical Chemistry from Governors State University. Outside of work, Deepika enjoys dancing and is a trained classical dancer.
Biotech Specialist, Sales
Stephanie is a Biotech Specialist with 10 years of industry experience. Now covering the Central United States for Pall Biotech, she started with Pall in 2016 as a Bioprocess Specialist within the Scientific Laboratory Services (SLS) group. Prior to joining Pall, she worked as a Process Engineer, a Process Development Engineer and as a Manufacturing Associate at Biogen. Stephanie holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota – Duluth. She enjoys being outdoors in her spare time, particularly camping, hiking, and biking.
Vice President, Scientific Affairs and Laboratory Services
Dr Ruta Waghmare is Vice President of Scientific Affairs and Laboratory Services at Pall Biotech. She is passionate about using science and engineering to enable the development of life enhancing drugs, and leads a team of ~300 scientific experts. Ruta previously held senior positions at Millipore-Sigma/Merck including Senior Director for Marketing and Sales, Director of Emerging Biotechnology, Regional Sales Manager, Head of Chromatography (Americas), and Group Manager for Process Development Sciences. Ruta completed her post-doctoral research at the NIH (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland) on protein purification and crystallization. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University. Ruta has co-authored over 65 publications and conference presentations. She also served as an officer (including Chair) for Manufacturing Sciences and Engineering section for AAPS (American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists) from 2012-17. In her spare time Ruta enjoys practicing yoga and is a qualified children’s yoga instructor.
Senior Manager, R&D
With a PhD and 20 years’ experience in the Biopharm industry, John joined Pall in 2011 as a Principal Scientist working on process analytics. He became senior manager in 2013 and leads teams involved in the evaluation of new products during development including filtration devices, bioreactors and other processing skids. His current lead a team involved in external collaborations in gene therapy and continuous biomanufacturing. Before joining Pall, John worked with Cobra Biologics on diverse projects including the development of processes to manufacture delivery systems for non-viral gene therapy, biopharmaceutical QC and biotherapeutic process development. Outside of work, John enjoys ballroom and latin dancing.
Associate R&D Engineer, Research and Development
Alex Williams is an Associate R&D Engineer at Pall Biotech. He works on developing bioreactors, primarily the Allegro™ STR bioreactor range. Originally from Manchester, Alex joined Pall after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a MEng in Bioengineering. He is an Associate member of IChemE. In his spare time, he enjoys music events, lacrosse and playing squash.
Research Scientist, Process Development Services
Karen Zimmerman is a Research Scientist with Process Development Services at Pall Biotech. Karen has a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Michigan and over ten years of laboratory experience including positions at Pfizer, Sierra Oncology, and Enzo Life Sciences. She has a broad range of practical knowledge in the areas of cell culture, protein purification, analytics, assay development, and plasmid cloning and has co-authored a number of publications and presentations. When she isn’t working, Karen loves to travel, spend time with her family, and read.
Biotech Process Manager, R&D
Dr Kalliopi Zourna joined Pall in 2012 and has held technical roles, supporting Pall’s process chromatography column and filtration technologies. Kalliopi is currently the Biotech Process R&D (BPRD) Manager for Pall’s filtration portfolio (sterile, virus and air). Her current research/activity is focused in monoclonal antibodies, drug delivery (liposomes) and gene therapy products sterile filtration. Kalliopi received her MSc in Biochemical Engineering at UCL and her PhD in Chemical Engineering at University of Birmingham in UK, where she focused in protein downstream processing and nanotechnology. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her toddler Pavlos.
