The Requirements to Consider for Water Hygiene in Public & Residential Facilities

Our Point-of-Use Water Filters Offer Immediate Support

Sanitary rooms in public, residential, and commercial buildings have a variety of requirements to consider, including water hygiene. Since sports facilities, schools, hotels, etc. are not continuously operated, they are particularly susceptible to the colonization of waterborne pathogens. Long periods of stagnation can pose a risk.

Within the drinking water installation, the pipes with stagnant water or very little flow can provide ideal conditions for waterborne pathogens. This can lead to the contamination of the drinking water and pose a risk, especially at the outlets, such as the faucet and shower.

Stagnant water and the accumulation of dirt and limescale in the pipes provides an ideal environment for the colonization of bacteria like Legionella spp. or Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Our Point-of-Use Water Filters offer an immediate, and easy-to-use solution for safe microbiologically controlled water at the point-of-use.

Waterborne Pathogen Outbreaks & The Prevention of Legionella Outbreaks

Our Point-of-Use Water Filters Offer Immediate Support

In the United States the number of cases of Legionnaires’ Disease reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been on the rise since 2000 and has grown nearly nine times since then. Health departments reported nearly 10,000 cases of Legionnaires’ disease in the United States in 2018. However, because Legionnaires’ disease is likely underdiagnosed, this number may underestimate the true incidence.1

Legionella Can Cause Serious Diseases

Legionella can cause diseases including Legionnaires‘ disease, which is accompanied by pneumonia, and Pontiac Fever, which can cause symptoms similar to the common cold, such as fever, cough or muscle aches. However, there are quite a few other waterborne pathogens that healthcare workers should also be aware of, some of which may include:

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Klebsiella spp.
  • Acinetobacter baumannii
  • Fusarium spp.
  • Aspergillus spp.

These pathogens are a cause for concern in areas where water can come into contact with at-risk individuals.
