Midstream Gas Pipeline Compressors

Pall Filtration Solution for Gas Pipeline Compressors Enhance Reliability and Minimize Downtime

flow rates in natural gas pipelines.

Removal of these solids will improve the performance of the gas compressor as well as the integrity of the pipeline itself.

Placed approximately 20 miles apart along the natural gas transmission lines, gas pipeline compressor stations increase gas pressure to maintain flow rates in natural gas pipelines.  Ensuring the reliability and efficiency of compressor performance is paramount to minimizing equipment downtime which can strain the entire gas transmission system.

There are numerous risks associated with the operation of gas pipeline compressors.  The top end of the compressor is exposed to pipeline fluids which can contain liquid contaminants that hinder compressor efficiency and longevity by damaging valves and other internals.  Pipelines also contain ‘black powder’ and other particulates.  Removal of these solids will improve the performance of the gas compressor as well as the integrity of the pipeline itself.

The bottom end of the gas compressor must be adequately lubricated.  As such, high quality filtration of lubricating oil can extend the life of the compressor bearings and reduce maintenance downtime.

Pall’s advanced filtration technologies deliver a complete filtration solution for gas pipeline compressors that improve reliability, reduce maintenance frequency, and minimize downtime for a streamlined gas compression operation.

Transmission of Dry Gas - Top End Protection - Particulate Filtration

Pall Profile® Coreless filters and MCC1401 filters provide enhanced particulate removal and protect compressor integrity.  Profile Coreless filters feature a large diameter filter size with polypropylene, nylon, or polyphenylene sulphide media to deliver consistent and efficient filtration performance with a longer onstream life to minimize filter changeout frequency.  The MCC1401 High Pressure filter utilize absolute rated media and are designed with large filter surface area to maximize particulate capture and extend filter life.

Transmission of Wet Gas - Top End Protection - Liquids and Solids Removal

The Pall SepraSol® Plus and Medallion™ HP liquid/gas coalescers removes liquid as well as solid contaminants from natural gas pipeline streams with superior efficiency and reliability to protect vital gas compressor equipment.  The advanced media and large filter surface area of the SepraSol Plus process higher gas flow volumes than conventional media and can even eliminate the need for bulk separators upstream of the coalescer.  High efficiency SepraSolTM Plus liquid/gas coalescers and MedallionTM HP liquid/gas coalescers provide 99.999% removal at 0.3 microns per the DOP test and 1 ppb downstream per the modified ANSI/CAGI-400-1999 test procedure.

Bottom End Protection - Lube Oil Filtration

For premium lubrication oil filtration, the Pall Athalon and Versalon series filters provide premium particulate removal for the highest quality gas compressor lubrication system.  The Athalon and Versalon series filters enhance removal of contaminants from lube oil such as metal particulates that can increase abrasive wear and frictional heating that are detrimental to compressor efficiency and longevity.  Featuring high capacity filter media, the Athalon and Versalon filters offer efficient, reliable, and long lasting lubricant filtration to minimize maintenance downtime and extend the life of capital equipment.
