There has been a steady growth in the application of autologous platelets in orthopedic and reconstructive surgery attesting to its safety. That work paved the way for its use in the treatment of tendinosis in humans and horses. We are now making available, for use with companion animals, a novel filter-based disposable device for the preparation and point-of-care delivery of platelet therapy for dogs.
The Pall Canine Platelet Enhancement Therapy (C-PET) kit allows for platelets to be enriched from a peripheral blood sample, within 15 minutes from start-to-stop in a completely disposable closed system without any capital expense. This technique offers the promise of broad applicability for the treatment of joint diseases from ligament and tendon damage to osteoarthritis. It can be used anywhere the patient needs to be treated, in the office, the clinic, or at the patient’s home. |
