Aircraft Cabin Air Filtration

Passengers in the aircraft cabin release high concentrations of dust, fibers, skin flakes, bacteria and other microorganisms.

Normal activities like breathing, coughing, sneezing and talking disperse millions of micro-organisms. These can be distributed throughout the cabin unless high performance filtration is employed in the cabin air recirculation system.

PALL 'true HEPA' cabin air filters remove dust, allergens and microbes ('microbes' includes viruses and bacteria) from the air recirculated into the cabin and cockpit. This helps to provide a safer, healthier and more comfortable environment for the passengers and crew.

Microbial challenge tests have shown that Pall 'true HEPA' cabin air filters remove bacteria and viruses with an efficiency greater than 99,999%. This is especially important in light of recent health threats such as Avian Flu, SARS and Swine Flu (link to data sheet on microbial removal).

However, it should be noted that even state-of-the-art cabin air filters cannot prevent the possibility of direct person-to-person transmission within the aircraft cabin
