A multinational vaccine company noted that creep in standard operating procedure (SOP) execution and operator error was significantly affecting productivity. Could a column packing success rate of 62% be improved and labor costs reduced?

A major North American utility station deploys conventional lime softening and demineralizers to produce high-quality water for boiler makeup. The utility station is a large coal-fired power plant that operates three coal-fired units. The units are about 600 MW each and were originally designed to handle high sulfur bituminous coal. The conventional system uses coagulant, lime, acid and caustic in large quantities to produce demineralized water. Pall Corporation and plant personnel worked together to develop an integrated membrane-based system to produce high-quality permeate water to maximize ion exchange run times.

$60,000 in Savings in Just Eight Months

A 775 MW combined-cycle plant in the northeastern United States was experiencing premature plugging of resin pre-coated, backwashable condensate filter cartridges with resin fines and contaminants. The plant needed an experience team to help them eliminate contamination during start-ups. After careful consideration, Pall was chosen for the project. Pall has an international customer base, and a strong reputation for innovative solutions in the power and utilities industry. After attentively surveying the scene, Pall started to put its plan into action.

Binding DNA to Success

DNA binding plates are employed as a basis for automated DNA isolation from blood for a broad variety of diagnostic tests. There are several product options available in the market containing DNA binding plates and a complete set of buffers. Pall AcroPrep Advance DNA binding plates which utilize standard glass fiber technology for genomic DNA isolation and purification. This platform offers additional flexibility as it can be used with a variety of reagent kits and, therefore, customized to your application requirements. 


Reducing Foaming. Saving the Day.

A Middle East gas production company operates a major gas processing plant which produces sales gas and Natural Gas Liquids (NGL). They needed an evaluation of the liquid contents in the gas stream at different locations along the process. Pall SepraSol Liquid/Gas coalescers were installed in the refinery’s gas feed line upstream of the amine contactor. This eliminated the hydrocarbons mixing with the amine and minimized any problems with foaming .

In recent years, ink jet ink and colorant formulators have faced an increasing number of challenges. The improved pigmented dispersions that are being developed have more complex chemistries, which cause the formation of micro-sized contaminant byproducts. 

Dissolving Water. Removing Problems.

A major Canadian oil company operates a 138,000 bbl/day refinery near Edmonton, Alberta. The refinery produces steam-stripped, light and heavy ultralow sulphur diesel (ULSD). The resulting stable emulsion was difficult to break with conventional KO devices and traditional liquid/liquid coalescer technologies. Pall, an industry leader in Chemical and Polymer technology, was more than ready to take on the challenge. Pall technicians accessed the refinery’s challenges and decided the AquaSep® Coalescer would be the best fit for the job. 

Commercial Aircraft Solutions

In modern aircraft, the air in the cabin is provided by the environmental control system (ECS) which is designed to control the cabin pressure, cabin temperature, maintain air quality and filter/dissipate any particulate matter, smoke and odors that are present in the cabin. In a typical cabin air recirculation system, the air supplied into the cabin consists of approximately 50% outside air from the engine’s compressor stage (engine ‘bleed air’) or APU which is mixed with approximately 50% of filtered, recirculated air.

The growing competition in the bottled water industry mandates that every bottled water company must keep a close eye on the cost to produce its brand. Large chain retailers continue to grow in strength, pressuring suppliers to improve quality, reduce costs and increase output. Gaining even marginal savings on operating costs can dictate success or failure for a bottler.

With increasing operating costs (e.g., fuel usage cost, equipment downtime cost) and strict environmental legislation (e.g., GHG emissions), the mining industry faces difficult challenges when running fleets of large diesel powered engines.
